The first UEFA Pro licence course run by the Cyprus Football Association (KOP/CFA) came to a successful conclusion on 30 April after a year of hard work by candidates.
The participants – 15 local coaches – completed five stages of the elite course, which had begun in May 2009, so as to fulfil the necessary requirements.
The fourth of the stages was a study visit to Premiership and Championship (or first and second division) clubs in England, which was made possible by the two English instructors working on the course, namely John Bilton and Martin Hunter.
The fifth and final stage, meanwhile, took place from 26 to 30 April and was overseen by former Poland coach Jerzy Engel, a member of the UEFA Development and Technical Assistance Committee, alongside Hunter.
Engel gave glowing feedback about the course to the KOP/CFA website, saying: "There is great support from the Cyprus Football Association and I have to praise the coach education department for their hard work – thanks to their efforts, the coaches taking part in this UEFA Pro course have received all the necessary guidance."
